Taylor & Amy

A Little About Us

How did you meet?

We matched on Bumble in July of 2018 while living over 90 minutes away from each other. After a couple weeks of chatting over text, Amy made the trek up for our first date on July 28 at a bar in Denver. The very first message ever shared between us was from Taylor to Amy on Bumble telling Amy that she has "beautiful teeth" (which Taylor has never been able to live down.) Taylor moved in with Amy only one month later and the rest is history!

What was your first impression of each other?

Taylor: Amy was incredibly charming and easy to talk to. I felt very at ease in her presence and we stayed up all night that first night talking for 3 hours at the bar, and then another 8 hours in my apartment. Neither one of us could tell you what we talked about in that entire time, but I remember it being the easiest 12 hour conversation I've ever had. (Albeit the only 12 hour conversation I've ever had.) But all I can remember is even when 9am hit and neither one of us had gotten any sleep that I still wish we had another 12.

Amy: Before we met in person, first impression was… what a weird pick up line, but okay we can talk and see where the conversation goes. First night we met… Beautiful, confident, intriguing, and someone I instantly knew I wanted to spend as much time as possible with. I knew I met my best friend.

What is your favorite memory with each other?

Taylor: A trip we took to LA in February 2020 right before Covid hit which was originally for a Reggae music fest. We ended up only going to the fest for one day, and instead we bought last minute tickets to a US vs Canada Womens soccer match that happened to be in town that next day. Then we spontaneously extended our trip a day and did a roadtrip up the Pacific Coast Highway, got amazing seafood on a pier in Santa Barbara and soaked up the sun. It was the last time we had traveled for a long time and it was such a relaxing, fun, and joyful trip.

Amy: Too many to count. From our first ever EDM show together- Illenium at Red Rocks, to our hundredth, and the many music fests… to traveling and experiencing so many new and incredible places together… Camping, glamping and hiding from bears car camping…. To Taylor almost dying on the Tetons and meeting our future best friends for the first time after dating for just a month (probably a least favorite for her but I loved you even more after that)… Every adventure together ends up being a favorite memory.

What is your favorite way of spending time together?

Taylor: Anyone that knows us is well-aware of our love for concerts and music festivals. We both appreciate a wide range of music and one of our favorite places in the world is Red Rocks Amphitheater. If we're not doing that we tend to be home-bodies who love spending time with our fur-kids Kota & Turtle (who wish we could be home 24/7/365.)

Amy: Being out in nature together, our coffee shop/plant/book store days, concerts and festivals and dancing of course, but most of all hanging with the kids at home with some good food :)

What is something your partner does better than anyone else?

Taylor: No one's better at rupturing tendons than Amy. But in reality, on an almost daily basis I find myself asking WWAD? Because I've never met anyone better at conflict resolution, peacemaking, or making all people feel seen and heard. She'll deny it any time I say it, but she has a gift for making everyone feel comfortable and talking her way through uncomfortable situations that other people stumble through or run away from. It's something I find incredibly admirable and wish to emulate even a fraction of in my day to day.

Amy: Taylor’s made me see the world in a way I never had before. She’s an incredibly strong woman with a quiet confidence and a real assurance in who she is. That confidence helped me finally be proud of the person I’ve always been but never truly felt comfortable expressing. She makes me a better person for myself and for others. Her intellect, empathy, and passion for expanding her mind are unmatched, and I learn something new from her every day. She’s someone who stays and fights for what’s right and genuinely wants to make a positive impact in this world (instead of running away to an island in another country somewhere like I want to do most of the time) and I deeply admire her for it.

How did you get engaged?

We had a holiday train ride planned through Georgetown in the mountains with our best friends November 2024. While we were on this train ride a different friend had 007'd into our house, somehow avoiding all of our Ring cameras, and had set up dozens of flowers, candles, pictures, etc in our kitchen for when we returned.
While Amy and one friend had run inside under the guise of "really needing to pee" - Taylor was extremely oblivious and took her sweet time grabbing everything out of the car, getting the mail, letting Kota out the front door to sniff the yard, and even going for an evening jog... (not really, but she might as well have in Amy's mind) ...before finally walking inside to the most amazing surprise of Amy standing in front of all these flowers and candles with a ring box.
Amy proposed Nov 22, 2024, on the three-year anniversary date of our Domestic Partnership anniversary.

Unbeknownst to Amy, Taylor had also been planning a proposal for one month later when they were in Isla Mujeres for vacation. Taylor proposed at sunrise at a spot called Punta Sur, a beautiful cliffside spot overlooking the ocean.

Why did you decide on a destination wedding?

Prior to knowing each other we had both always separately wanted to get married on a beach, so in the spirit of convenience we decided hey let's just get married to each other!

We've been to all-inclusive resorts before and both know that they're the best experiences and most convenient for large groups; we want this wedding to feel fun and relaxing for everyone involved.
